Is it Fall already?

OK, so I am not so good about updating  my blog.  What has happened since my first post?  Well, no one has given me any comments, so I guess it was too boring.  But, my life is boring so there ya have it.

I lost my job in August.  The company that I worked for has a contract with a telecommunications company to outsource the software development.  Last year, they started sending the work to India.  I lost one position to India last year and switched to a new position that I was told was safe.  HA!  I should have known that they were lying.  I mean when have they ever told the truth - stretched it a might mostly!  Anyway, 65% of us are losing their jobs to India and another 200 more lost their jobs when work slacked off in July.  They were only given 2 weeks notice.  At least I have 60 days notice.  I am still looking for a job.  That is why life is so boring - all I have to do all day is look for jobs.

I am not worried because GOD is in control of the situation.  HE just did not need me there any more and HE needs me to be somewhere else as a witness for HIM. I just have to keep looking until I find that place.

Also in August, my only son got married!!  I am now a mother-in-law!  I can wait to become a grandmother, though! Check out his blog - tfclumpy.  The wedding was beuatiful and I love Cassie and her family.  They have also moved 600 miles closer to us, so we can get there in a days driving.  I still cannot see how a Southern boy raised in AL can love it up in the frozen north!  I am originally from PA and I would not move back there!  I love the South and the mild winters.  I do NOT miss snow, ice, or slush!  I like only having snow every 2 - 3 years.  Down here, over 1 inch brings everything to a halt.  They still talk about the "Great Blizzard of 1993" when we got over 18" of snow.  We were without power for a week that time.  But, hey, it only happens once in a while.  We have not had any snow for at least 3 years now.  I love having 80 degree weather at Christmas!  You can enjoy being outside and not have to remove umpteen layers of coats, sweaters, etc when you arrive somewhere.

So, now it is fall!  We had such a dry summer that the trees are already turning colors (yes, they do change colors and the leaves fall off - we DO have seasons here, it is just a lot milder temperatures!).  It is in the seventies now and low humidity.  This is horse-back riding weather and I cannot wait until my neighbor's ankle heals so we can go riding together.  She was bucked off a horse and badly sprained it.  She is walking on it, but it still swells at the end of the day.

Well, what is your favorite fall activity?

New Blog-ger

OK, so this is my first blog entry. Who knows where it will lead....

Right now, I am sitting here wondering where time has flown. My son is getting married in a little over a month. My daughter has graduated college and is applying for grad school. I seems like just yesterday that they were running around the yard playing in the sprinklers or jumping in the pool. I remember summers filled with camping and boating at the lake. I remember when Jim learned to turn the kneeboard backwards and stay on it. I remember him doing a flip off the boat deck into the water or off the diving board at his grandparents' pool. I remember Amber learning to ride horseback or flying off the inner tube as her dad pulled her around the lake at what seemed like breakneck speeds when in reality it was about 10 mph. I remember the first time that they both decided to climb the sliding board at their grandparents' pool and jump into the water from the top of the slide - I think every "kid" tried that at least once, including their grandfather!

AHHHH, Summer. My favorite time of the year! Heat waves and homemade ice cream ....

What is your favorite summer memory?
